I am currently reading this book: Epitaph for a Peach by David Mas Masumoto. This is autobiographical account of the author’s quest to save his family’s peach farm.
This reminds me of my life in the farm. How I wish I were still the little girl who plays under the mango tree, feeds the chicken, removes the weeds and grasses in the corn, rice or munggo fields and enjoys the fresh air in the barrio.
I am missing that peaceful life and my Daddy Old (grandfather) who carried me on his lap while singing native folk song.
Being an epitaph for a farm, I think, I also need to write an epitaph for our old farm, which is no longer ours. I miss that place. My hope is that someday, I will be able to take it back and all the memories I had there.
